ABOUT ME

My life anthem: " If My Heart Could Only Talk"- Billie Holiday

While I've started and eventually abandoned several blog beginnings, today was the day I decided to start fresh with the intention of a 100% committal relationship. I'm putting all my cookies in the jar, so to speak. Although winter time in New York usually has a tendency to put all my inspirations and aspirations to sleep, I've felt quite oppositely invigorated as of lately. I'm instead bubbling with inspiration and "brilliant" ideas ;-). My desk is a pile of to-do lists, recipes, scribbles, journals, etc.

As we all know, life is action-packed with lows and highs, routines and surprises, confusion and certainty...you know, all sorts of yin and yang concepts. Well right now, the evolving whirlwinds of my passions seem to be coming together into this mass and hitting me with a force so powerful, it’s hard to ignore. Whether or not you believe in signs, I don’t know, but I definitely feel their presence. These signs are pretty much slapping me in the face, saying “GO FOR IT!” I can’t relax, can’t sit still, can’t get my mind to shut up…and I love it.
These passions I speak of are; food, cooking, clothing, music, writing, and photography. I’ve always known I’d loved these things, but they all seem to be intertwining in ways I didn’t see coming. These passions were like puzzle pieces I hid in different compartments and only took out separately when it felt appropriate. All of a sudden, all these pieces are fitting together into a beautiful picture.

When I came down the stairs the other day, my dad said “I wish I could look at a magazine of what you’re doing and wearing every day.” While parents are your number one fans and I’m by no means fabulous enough for my own magazine, I thought well yeah, I take pictures of most things I do and love to make a celebration of it. Ambiance is KEY in my activities. When cooking, I love to put on something special, glass of wine in hand, hips shaking to the music, table décor ideas playing in my head. I like to make an event out of it that brings people together and inspires them in some little way or with some luck, in a huge way.

So I decided, it’s time for some serious blogging.

Moving to the city from my family farm initially proved to be pretty trying. I had a hard time finding the magic I so desperately craved and relied on for my happiness. I missed and still do miss, the vast amount of space and freedom, wonder in nature, and sense of community and chemistry with the people I was lucky enough to be surrounded by Upstate. I’m slowly but surely finding my place here now and opening my eyes and ears to the unique and new wonders the city has to offer. I want to share with you the wonders I encounter in my day to day, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant they may be, in the hopes that you’ll find some inspiration in them as well.

Enjoy! Please!
